In a recent press conference, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops highlighted that artifacts of St. Bernadette Soubirous will travel from Lourdes, France to the United States of America. The artifacts will be available for adoration at more than 30 different churches and shrines across more than 14 different states and 19 different dioceses.
Relics will include part of her rib and casket.
Msgr. Kenneth Schwanger, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Miami and chairman of the parish-based Hospitalité de Miami, one of the tour’s sponsors said,“Our Lady told Bernadette, go and tell the priests to build a chapel here, and that people should come here, line up, then wash and clean.”
“That was her purpose to Lourdes — eventually to the world. After she completed that, Bernadette said, ‘I’m like a broom; put me in the cupboard.’ Now, Our Lady says: Come … and go to America to bring the same message and understanding to the people there. Bring the grace of Lourdes to all citizens across the country.”
The tour of Bernadette’s artifacts began on April 7 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Miami and will conclude August 4, 2022 at St. Bernadette Church in Los Angeles.
