Celebrity comedian and actor Kevin Hart partners with The Children’s Place, a specialty retailer of children’s apparel and accessories, to host a Back-to-School bash in East Harlem benefiting families in need.

The event held on July 27, 2022, featured special appearances by the comedian and city officials at NYC Parks’ Thomas Jefferson Recreation Center. The program is part of the children’s retailer’s larger 2022 Back-to-School campaign, where they “revitalize 10 public spaces in local communities as learning centers across the country and donate books, school supplies, and products to today’s youth.”

During the event Hart personally passed out bookbags and read excerpts from his children’s book “Marcus Makes a Movie” which was released in 2021. During the opening ceremony, Hart said, “Whether opening a new book, taking on a new challenge in the classroom, or making memories with fellow students, these are the times that most impact a child’s life.”

By partnering with The Children’s Place, Hart hopes the revitalized learning spaces will “incentivize kids to create, to be active, to dream.”
