Jaden Smith donates second water filtration unit to Flint church

Actor and rapper Jaden Smith will donate a second water filtration system to Flint, Michigan’s First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.

He surprised comedian Ellen DeGeneres with the announcement on her daytime talk show that he will donate The Water Box in her name. The episode, which was taped on June 6, aired on Friday.

“You’ll just fill up for free in 60 seconds at First Trinity Baptist Church,” Smith told DeGeneres.

Smith unveiled the first Water Box on March 2 at the church. He attended a ceremony with his mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, and partner organization 501CThree.

The Water Box will arrive at the end of June, according to Catrina Tillman, the first lady of First Trinity. She said the portable system would likely be put at a different location.

Residents can visit First Trinity, 1226 Beach St., Flint on Wednesdays and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. to collect water from The Water Box. Individuals must bring their own containers.

I love Jaden Smith, and I love how he’s helping the people of Flint.
