Community Tips Delivery Driver a New Car

Veteran Pizza Hut delivery man, Robert Peters, loves what he does.  Though some might not consider ‘pizza delivery’ a long term profession, for this veteran delivery driver of 31 years, it is.

“There were people in my family that were like, ‘Maybe you should consider something a little more financially stable,’” he told Steve Hartman during an ‘On the Road’ segment of the CBS Evening News. “But it’s my purpose in life—trying to make people happy. You know, when you’re delivering to somebody, you may be the only face they see all day.”

When neighbors saw Peters and his 28-year-old Oldsmobile heading their way, they knew they knew they were in for not just good pizza but also a warm welcoming smile.

Tanner Langley, one of Peters’ regular customers, told Good Morning America, “The town of Tipton calls him ‘Mr. Smiley.’”

When Langley learned Peters’ car was on its last legs, he asked the community to help so Peters could keep making the rounds doing the job he loved.
