Catholic Church Concludes Rosary Marathon

On Monday, May 31, Pope Francis will lead a mass to conclude the month long Catholic Church’s rosary marathon with special prayers to Mary, Undoer of Knots, organized by the Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization.

During the prayer service, Bishop Bertram Johannes Meier of Augsburg, Germany, will bring the icon of Mary Undoer of Knots to the Vatican Gardens. Pope Francis and others will pray that Mary will “untie the knots that oppress us materially and spiritually so that we can witness with joy to her son, our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The rosary will be held in the Vatican Gardens and include youth from a local parish in Viterbo, Italy that recently had their first communion, recently confirmed young people, a Scout troop, several families, including newlyweds and expectant parents.

Like the opening rosary, which Pope Francis led from St. Peter’s Basilica on May 1, the closing prayers will include video links with several Marian shrines around the globe. Some of the virtual services the Vatican will highlight will include Our Lady of Sorrows in Kibeho, Rwanda, and Our Lady of Lourdes in Carfin, Scotland.
