California Southern Baptist Convention (CSBC) and the International Mission Board (IMB) have entered a partnership to minister among the East Asian Peoples Affinity Group.

The agreement, signed November 1, 2020, is designed to promote the proclamation of the gospel in East Asia, make new disciples, train and equip local leaders for ministry opportunities, and plant healthy churches. Further, the California Southern Baptist Convention will be increasing its financial support for the International Mission Board and encouraging member churches to do likewise.

Shawn Beaty, CSBC president, said he is “very excited” about the partnership and believes the diversity of CSBC churches, especially Asian congregations, “have incredible potential to take the gospel deeper into East Asia.”

Tony Wyrick, associate cluster leader for East Asia connections cluster of the IMB, said, the goal of reaching the East Asian communities with the gospel will be a monumental task that takes time, commitment, and working with a diverse host of quality partners.

An excited Wyrick stated, this partnership will not only bring many East Asians to saving faith in Jesus Christ, but “will also serve to strengthen the relationship between the CSBC and your IMB missionaries on the field in East Asia.

“As much as we value your partnering with us through giving and praying for missions, we equally value your going as well. We are looking forward to the creative avenues the Lord provides for us to partner and to the testimonies that result from our partnership.” -Tony Wyrick

Currently, the partnership is supported by more than a dozen CSBC churches. To find out more about the partnership visit csbc.com.
